Director Chris Weitz Talks About How Much the Wolf Pack Has Changed

Photobucket

As many or all of you have noticed the Wolf Pack has gotten much scarier and realistic transfermations from the first time we saw the Jacob transformation into a wolf.

Here is what Chris Weitz had to say about the new Wolf Pack transformation.

"Every CGI shot goes through sometimes hundreds of iterations," director Chris Weitz explained. "Like, for instance, that first shot we put out was a work in progress. It was probably version 150 or something. That shot itself is now at version 550, I think."

Lots of tinkering went on in the four months from when the first trailer was released until the most recent teasers, but that's not even the final version that's going to be seen in theaters. "We're still tweaking them to the last possible day," he said.

With the release of "New Moon" less than a month away, that day looms ever closer. Fortunately, the wolves are looking significantly more terrifying than they did the first time around.

"They're much scarier by now. That was always the aim," Weitz said. "The aim was to make them as fierce as possible, and they just got more and more and more dangerous as time went on."

Recent trailers have shown the wolf pack in its entirety, and Jacob is not the only werewolf fans have seen change. Still, his jumping transformation was the money shot Weitz wanted to make sure "New Moon" viewers saw — even though the animation hadn't been perfected yet.

"We really wanted to show with that first trailer [that] there were going to be these werewolves; that we could turn a guy into a werewolf in midflight, which was no small achievement," Weitz said. "We were putting out a proof of the concept at the time, but it wasn't the full-fledged, pimped-out wolf that it was going to end up being."

Interview from Like Hit Magazine with Kristen and Taylor

Thanks Twilight Poison for posting and translating these French magazine interviews .
Oh and thank you to your mom who got them for you. = )

Here is Taylor's Interview:

Hello Taylor! Let’s dive into the most interesting of our topics: in New Moon you transform into a werewolf, what was that like?

Jacob’s a completely different character now. In the first film, he’s very shy and reserved. He’s very clumsy. But on the other hand, when he transforms himself he’s a completely different “person”, he’s strong and he’s very agile. I love the duality of this character, but it can also be a bit frustrating.

So it seems like you’re not really in the scenes of the werewolf action?

Yeah! Jacob is on his best shape, but in all his action scenes he’s in his wolf form. There’s so many scenes, and it’s a bit frustrating that I can’t be part of them and completely be the character. I would love it if I could turn into a werewolf in real life, but it’s impossible! (laughs).

Coming back to Twilight, did you have any idea of how things were going to turn out?

Oh no! Never. When I was auditioning I never thought I would have the opportunity to play this character more than once; I had no idea what Twilight was, what the books were, I didn’t know anything about the characters or the story itself. And then things changed and I noticed that it was a huge thing and that people were very passionate about it. It was amazing. The fans are crazy, it’s unbelievable! When I say they’re crazy, is not in a bad way. I mean that they’re very expressive and they want us to know how much they love the books and the movies (laughs). Sometimes I can’t believe it’s happening to me.

What has been the hardest thing for you in Twilight and New Moon?

Working out! Because if the characters are growing on a mental level between the two films, they’re also growing on a physical level. So when Jacob starts to turn into a werewolf, he’s in his best shape ever. He can’t look like a kid anymore. So I locked inside a gym with my personal trainer, I ate a lot, healthily, I avoided all sugars and took energy drinks. It was one of the worst moments of my life, but it was very well worth it.

Well you can relax now! Everything is fine!

(laughs) I can’t really relax because we only have a short break before we return to film Eclipse in Vancouver, that’s the next film. And I have to say that judging by some of the scenes, we’re going to have to be in our best shape for this one, physically and mentally. It looks like the process is going to be longer and harder.

What were your favorite scenes of New Moon?

I loved the action scenes, there’s just so much action in this one. But if I had to chose one it would be scene where Bella sees Jacob for the first time after his transformation. She goes to his house and his hair is short now, and he tells her “We can’t be friends anymore”. It was a very emotional scene.

Kristen's Interview:

Hello Kristen! Before we talks about New Moon, let’s talk about the success of Twilight. What can you say about it?

To be honest I’m not very surprised of the success of the film. But on the other hand, it’s still funny that it had so much success in return with very small means. Nobody would’ve bet on us before the release of the movie. So I understand now why people are trying to find an explanation to it. He just made a film with very little money. The story itself is based on simple things, with simple people, while it’s helped people identify wi the characters.

In handsight, what do you think makes you similar to Bella?

Actually, I didn’t work as hard as you’d think to play Bella, because we’re very similar. Bella is very similar to me, because we’re not like the rest of the girls that look for dozens of things to make them happy. She’s fairly open to the world and doesn’t ask for anything.

In New Moon things change also for Bella. What can you say about it?

She changes a lot, yes. In the first movie she’s very brave because she takes the risk of leaving the world she knows to be with Edward and his family, without knowing what will happen. This made her feel things she had never felt before. She matured, and when we mature, we don’t see things the way we used. The life she lives now with Edward is very different that everything she knew before, in the first film, but that alone doesn’t explain the changes in Bella.

Edward leaves, Bella gets closer to Jacob. Is your relationship with Taylor Lautner very different this time around?

I don’t know. taylor is someone I love very much, especially for his honesty. He’s a very open person, willing to listen to others. In the movie, Edward’s absence makes things complicated and Bella inevitably gets closer to Jacob. She sees him in a way she hadn’t seen him before. Bella feels like she can trust Jacob with everything, and that’s the feeling I get in real from Taylor. Someone who is very nice and I can tell him anything.

With the arrival of a new director, has anything changed too much?

Yes and no. It has changed a lot in the sense that he’s brought a new way for us to work in. He takes us in different directions, but he has remained faithful to the film. And then in the next film he will not come back, we’ll have David Slade. And that’s not a problem. If we had done the four films in a row, that would’ve been more complicated, but between films we have the time to rest or do other activities. And that’s great, and it’s easier for the team to have a real transition between each chapter.

Twilight Watch—Attack of the Wolves, Part Three: Meet Chaske Spencer

Chaske Spencer Pictures, Images and Photos

Part three that I forgot to post from Vanity Fair, with the one and only Chaske Spencer who plays Sam Uley.

VF.com: How did you get the part of Wolf Pack leader, Sam Uley?

Chaske Spencer: It was one of the weirdest auditions I’ve done. We put it on tape, and usually the process is: you meet the casting director, get a callback, then you meet the producer and director. This just went straight from tape. I auditioned for all of the parts of the Wolf Pack; they called me back and told me what part I had. Also, I didn’t really know who [the character] was because I didn’t know much about Twilight. Then I figured it out and said, “Wow, that’s a really good part.” It’s amazing. I’ve never gotten a part like that before.

Once you got the part, did you go back and read the books?

Yeah, I started with New Moon. Then I started dabbling in Eclipse because there’s a lot of back-story to my character. I really tried to relate to those characters, do my job … and then go to the gym.

How much time did you have between finding out you got the role and actually starting shooting?

Not much—about three weeks. They got us a trainer and really started throwing us into the work, into working out, which was with a gentleman who helped out on 300. I was pretty psyched about that; it was really tough. I was [already] in shape, but when he got his hands on me, it was a whole different beast altogether. I put on 25 pounds in those two months. It just happened—one day, I stepped out of the shower, took a look at myself, and I didn’t recognize my own body.

You all went through this together as a pack, too.

Yeah, that was the one thing that was really cool; it did bond us. We’re unknowns, and we couldn’t tell anyone for a month that we were cast. So we just talked to each other, made sure we kept each other in check, got competitive with one another. It was like [we were] brothers. I gained so many family members through this, which I’m really grateful for.

So you were this unknown actor living in New York who suddenly found himself on the set of this huge studio blockbuster. What was that like?

It’s so surreal, I mean, I’m feeling it right now! On the film sets of New Moon and Eclipse, I feel safe. It’s like you’re in the center of the hurricane, but outside is where it starts to get chaotic. I would say that, in the last few days, I started noticing that I’m in this huge franchise. I’m going to be in one of the biggest movies of the year, and it’s a little surreal, frightening, and exciting all together. It’s like one big roller-coaster ride.

What are you doing to prepare for it?

No one can give you a book on how to deal with it. There’s not much you can do about it except for just having a good head on your shoulders. You have to go on your own and figure it out.

Like many of the other wolves, you have your own Twitter page, too.

It’s really cool. It’s like being in this rock band. It’s nothing like I’ve ever done before on any film or play—you really interact with the fans. I Twitter for the Twilight fans. I can write where I’m going, what I’m doing—I try to keep it general so I don’t give too much away—and the fans are great! They’re really excited about it; some even know more about me than I do myself!

Speaking of rock bands, Kiowa [Gordon] said you got him listening to Phoenix and Grizzly Bear.

Kiowa and Tyson Houseman are really into music, and we talk about that. I’m really into discovering new music. I’m a drummer, and I live with a musician—he’s in a band called The 5 O’Clock Heroes. I’m not just plugging him because he’s my roommate; his band is really good. He introduces me to all of the cool new bands, and we’ve had musicians coming over to our apartment for a while now. I like this new cat, Liam Finn, who I heard about in Australia. I also just got the New Moon soundtrack, and I’m really impressed! I think it’s amazing. I’ve been listening to it all day actually. I like Band of Skulls, and I’ve been a fan of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for years now. This is going to be my album for the month.

What did the wolves listen to during workouts?

I brought my iPod in, and I had tracks that would help us get through the workout. We played the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” Metallica’s “Orion,” ACDC—that really pumped us up—some Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden, Nirvana. I like to workout to a lot of hip-hop, too.

You’re the oldest wolf in the pack.

Yeah, and it’s funny: I play the alpha wolf, the leader, and I kind of fell into that role. I don’t know how that happens. But I am the oldest—I had a few films under my belt—and I kind of helped some of the other guys. I’m very protective of them. If anyone tried to hurt them, I’d probably go ballistic. They’re good guys. We take care of one another. It was like freshman coming into high school; we were the new group. We all come from different backgrounds, too. We’re Native Americans and we have a different outlook on things. We didn’t come to mess around; we came with our A-game, and we definitely made sure our presence was known.

What is your Native American background?

I’m Lakota Sioux. What’s cool is that Stephenie [Meyer]’s written this amazing story that is more contemporary Native American. It’s not like I was wearing leather and feathers, which I’ve been used to doing. I didn’t have to go too much into my own background.

You said in your Twitter feed: “I love being a wolf!”

[Laughs] I like my role. When I was a kid, I was into the Anne Rice novels, but I never got to discover werewolves until this. What I like is that it’s given me a new body, actually. The workouts and all of that stuff—who doesn’t want to be a werewolf? (It’s tongue-in-cheek when I say stuff like that.)

When this is all over, what kind of movies do you want to make?

I just look at the kind of actors I really like; I like Gene Hackman. The actors I admire are character actors. I just want to do really good work. I mean, this is huge. I really don’t know what I can do after this! Go the independent route maybe.

Let’s do some wordplay. Please give one word to describe each of the actors you work with in New Moon, starting with Alex Meraz [“Paul”].

Primal.

Bronson Pelletier [“Jared”].

Jokester.

Kristen Stewart [“Bella Swan”].

Fighter.

Gil Birmingham [“Billy Black”].

Heart-and-soul.

Tyson Houseman [“Quil Ateara”].

Intelligent.

Kiowa Gordon [“Embry Call”].

Goofy.

Taylor Lautner [“Jacob Black”].

Loveable.

Vanity Fair - Twilight Watch: A Conversation With Peter Facinelli

peter facinelli Pictures, Images and Photos

Whooray! More of the awesome Twilight Interviews from Vanity Fair!

Here is the interview of the fatherly (now borthery) Peter Facinelli:

As the patriarch of the Cullen clan, have you assumed a similar fatherly role with the cast?

You know, on Twilight I feel like they looked to me as the father figure, but because we became so close, I’m more of an older brother now.

Has there been a difference in the way you interact as a cast since you filmed Twilight?

Rob[ert Pattinson] has more security guards hanging around him! [Laughs] Other than that, not really. We really enjoy each other’s company, and we’ve been working so much on this movie that we really haven’t had as much time to hang out with each other. We’re putting in these long hours and then just heading home. Usually we just try to catch dinner with each other then get back up the next morning and do it all over again.

What would you say is the one major thing that has changed about your life since starting the franchise?

I’m traveling a lot more than I used to and interacting with a lot more people. The fan base on this, I don’t know how else to explain it … it’s a cultural phenomenon. People will actually hop on a plane to see you. Sometimes I do these charity events, and people fly in to come and see me. I’m just really, really impressed with [the fan] dedication to these books and to the movies. I’ve always had a fan base with the work I’ve done, but never as rabid as this.

You seem pretty dedicated to them, too, judging by your Twitter page.

You know, I love connecting with the fans because I’m a fan of the books myself. They’re all so dedicated and wonderful to me that I love to be able to give back. So if stopping for a picture or signing a book of theirs puts a smile on their face, then that makes me happy, too. I kind of go out of my way to make sure—if there are fans hanging around the set—to try to stop and say hello to them before I get in the van. It takes five minutes to make people happy. I love interacting with them.

You’ve been working steadily since your early twenties—the same age that some of the Twilight cast members are now. Have you been able to offer any advice to any of them, especially at a time when they’ve suddenly been thrust into the spotlight?

I’ve had some conversations with some of the cast about careers because I’ve been working for fifteen years. They’re just starting out with their careers, and for a lot of them this is their first big break. I think they look to me and ask, How do you sustain that? It’s still a mystery to me, too! I feel very lucky. For me it’s about longevity and not about just one movie. It’s got to be a scary time for them because this movie is giving them lots of opportunities. It’s up to them to steer this journey into a career, and not just be part of Twilight and be gone. I look at them, and it’s got to be pretty scary to have that much on their shoulders pretty quick, but I think they’re really talented, really smart, and I think that they’re going to be fine.

What has this done for your career?

I’ve done a lot of movies and different roles, and this is another role that I love to play. I look forward to continue doing a lot more. It’s definitely broadened my fan base even with my own kids. For a long time, they didn’t get to see any of the work I’ve done because of the mature content.

Have any of your daughters seen Twilight?

All three of them have seen it! They’re ages twelve, six, and three. They love it. The 12-year-old has read the first two books, so she loves the movie. My 6-year-old loves it even more; she wants to watch it all the time! Now the 3-year-old, because the 6 year-old likes it, wants to watch it all the time, too. I asked her what she liked about it and she said, “I like the scary parts.”

Have they met the cast? Did they get excited?

My kids are pretty unaffected. They don’t get too star-struck. To them it’s just “Dad’s friends,” which is kind of nice.

How does New Moon differ from Twilight?

You know, Twilight was an independent movie. It was shot very documentary style, the way Catherine [Hardwicke, Twilight’s director] shoots. It has a rawness to it, which I think is nice. New Moon’s a little bit crisper, it has a little bit more of a studio feel, but it still has that edge.

What’s it like playing the same character for three different directors?

That gets interesting. It’s exciting in one way because every director brings their own flavor to the movie. Each director’s personality is different so you kind of have to adapt to their way of working, but I’ve had really good experiences on all three. Sometimes it’s nice working with the same person over and over because there’s a familiarity, but I’m used to working with different directors. On Nurse Jackie we get different directors on each episode. I like it because they bring different ideas and make you think of things you might not have thought of before—pushing you to look at it from different angles. I think it’s harder on the directors to come in and try to make these movies as grand as Twilight was and take on the responsibility of getting the story accurate in terms of telling it from the book. Then they have a whole cast that they haven’t dealt with before, so I think it would be more daunting for the director.

You have so many new cast members coming into it, too …

Our group is such a great bunch that we’re all so welcoming. It’s like broadening your family base. With open arms, we were there waiting. They came out to dinners with us and just became part of the family.

Speaking of family, will you please give me one word to describe each of the Cullen clan actors starting with Kellan Lutz?

Ok. [Laughs] Goofy!

Nikki Reed:

Complex.

Jackson Rathbone:

Artistic.

Kristen Stewart:

Sweet.

Elizabeth Reaser:

Awesome.

Ashley Greene:

Pixie-ish, she’s like a fairy—she’s so light on her feet. Bubbly, that’s the word.

Rob Pattinson:

Mmm, Rob. Rob’s a good one. It’s hard to narrow down to one. So many words come to mind! Brooding, tortured … but he’s a good kid. What’s the word for a solidly good guy?

Solid?

Solid. He is. He’s solid.

Finally, what your word of the day?

Cold!

New Moon Commercials Now on TV!

So I was just reading with the TV on kinda watching Gossip Girl when all of a sudden, to my surprise, I hear "Your a human, who knows to much about vampires", I'm like thats sounds really familiar and then I start freaking out. So yes New Moon is officially here and with less than a month away, were really excited. From now we are goin to try post daily and if possible more than once or twice a day.

Eclipse is Now Wrapped!

It's official, Eclipse is now DONE FILMING! It's bitter sweet but it looks like the Twilight Saga is finally done for now (lets cross our fingers for Breakin Dawn). Filming is now done in VanCan and their is still no new news on Breaking Dawn. Eclipse is to be realesed on June 30, 2010 witch is a little bit over 8 months away,

Parking Lot Scene YAY!

So yet another scene from New Moon has been released by Extra, (I guess they were feeling the compition with the rest of celebrity news shows). It's only 9 seconds but it's adorable and very sweet. Rob sounds and looks very sweet but also very sexy as he greets bella with a "Happy Birthday". I have to admit that the acting on both Kristen and Rob siNce Twilight. So I hope you enjoy the 9 seconds on sweet chemistry.

Ashley Greene Talks About Filming Eclipse

Here is an interview from MTV on how it was for Ashley to film Eclipse and how she got along with everyone. I'm sure she got along just fine with everyone, she says she's just like Alice minus the imortal stuff. Haha...

Ashley's Interview:

MTV: What was your favorite "New Moon" scene to shoot?

Ashley Greene: Of course, the Porsche was incredible, the whole experience of filming [that scene]. Working with Michael Sheen, it was just really funny how he created this whole atmosphere out of the scene and could switch it up. Everything that he did was a little bit inspired, and so the whole Volturi scene with him was really fun to do. [I also love] the whole Cullen scene, when Bella gets a paper cut and Jasper goes crazy — you haven't seen that side of him yet. The performances are great, and the whole dynamic is really great. That was one of my favorite scenes to watch.

MTV: You guys have become such good friends and have so much downtime between takes. What sort of things do you talk about when the cameras aren't rolling?

Greene: Between takes? Gosh, everything. YouTube was a big topic of conversation; we were sharing YouTube videos. Which was kinda funny, because [we'd be filming a] really intense situation, and then they would yell, "Cut!" and we would have 20 minutes and we'd break out "Kittens Inspired by Kittens." It's this little girl reading a kittens book. [Laughs.]

MTV: So Alice and Bella would be giggling between all that drama?

Greene: Yeah, there was a lot of that, just a lot of giggling and laughing. During "New Moon," especially in Italy, me and Kristen were, like, the only girls. So there was a lot of girly giggling going on.

MTV: Do you feel more like Alice now than when you did "Twilight"?

Greene: I feel like I was like the character a little bit anyways. I was really excited to play Alice in the beginning because she is a really positive, bright light — and a very moral vampire. I was saying in the beginning that I felt that I was [as well], and that was relatable. At least, I try to act [positively]; I don't know if we can all the time. [Also] she's really close with her family obviously, and that was there from the get-go, so I felt like the only other thing I could do to get closer would be to become a vampire or see the future. [Laughs.] [But] fashion-wise, yes. Fashion-wise, I have become a lot more like Alice Cullen, because she is probably the most fashionable out of the Cullen clan, and I've recently become obsessed with fashion.

MTV: There's so much "Twilight" merchandise out there. Do you own any?

Greene: I have a couple shirts. I have a couple things from "Twilight" that I want to keep as memorabilia, and so I have a couple shirts. I definitely have the necklace. While filming, Kellan bought the "Twilight" game, and we played. We made Xavier [Samuel] play it, the poor new kid. We were like, "The new kid will play!" and so we had Xavier come over and Peter Facinelli came over. Me and him and those two guys and Kellan played the "Twilight" game. And I won. I'm just saying. No big deal.

MTV: What is the secret to the success of the "Twilight" film franchise?

Greene: If I told you, I'd have to kill you. [Laughs.]

Jackson Rathbone Says "I wouldn't have another Edward Cullen than Robert Pattinson"

Photobucket

Yes, yes Jackson Rathbone did say that. Could it be because of his admiration of how Rob has been able to stay sane with all the rumors and sreaming fans? I would say, yes. Who wouldn't?

As you might also remember from a past post, Jackson was also a choice for Edward.
I think he's glad he didn't get the part. What do you guys think?
I know I wouldn't like people (paparazzi) following me where ever I go.

Read his exact (well maybe not exact) words:

"I was a choice. I don't think I was [Catherine Hardwick's] first choice," Jackson told us in a recent interview on the set of his new movie, "Girlfriend."

But he was a definite choice for author Stephenie Meyer, who had included Jackson on her favorite suggestions list of possible Edwards on her website in July, 2007 before casting was finished (Robert Pattinson was one of the more popular suggestions, but Henry Cavill was her first choice). Jackson emphasized he felt, in both cases, Rob was the first choice once the actors had been narrowed down.

"I think he's the best man for the job," Jackson said. "I wouldn't have another Edward Cullen than Robert Pattinson. He's perfect."

Had the tables turned and Jackson got the part, it could have been his face lining the tabloid articles he told us he liked to laugh at. Somehow, when he informed us, "I love playing Jasper," we're also assuming he loved missing a huge, gossip-driven bullet...

Jackson Rathbone Discusses Jasper's 'Eclipse' Flashbacks

Photobucket

Sexy man, Jackson Rathbone, who plays our beloved Jasper Hale, talks about how his flashbacks will be shown in Eclipse and how it was nice to work with Kristen Stewart...

"I got to go back into my old roots, got to ride some horses again, which was nice. Got to put these riding boots to use, which is good," Rathbone said, motioning to his boots. "I actually can ride a horse."

In "Eclipse," Jasper tells Bella (Kristen Stewart) about his life before he met Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli). Unlike Edward (Robert Pattinson), Rosalie (Nikki Reed), Esme (Elizabeth Reaser) and Emmett (Kellan Lutz), both Jasper and Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) were transformed into vampires before they met Carlisle. Jasper plays a large role in the third installment of the series because he is the only vampire among them who knows how to combat the newborn vampire army Victoria (now played by Bryce Dallas Howard) is building.

Jasper's backstory, which takes place during the Civil War, will be told through flashbacks, Rathbone confirmed. Though the explanation of Jasper's history takes up a good portion of the novel, he hinted that the film version would be shorter.

"It was just really fantastic to get to delve in there and to get to don all the Civil War regalia and whatnot. That was a pleasure," he said. "I had to wear this wool suit of a major, cavalry major. "I got the big hat and everything. Hop off the horse, bow to these ladies, and then I get eaten. And then I get turned!"

There will also be flashbacks of Jasper training newborn vampires while he's still "a bad dude, a bad vampire," Rathbone said. He added that training from another film, "The Last Airbender," including wrestling, hand-to-hand combat and weapon play, was useful since there wasn't much time to prepare for the fight scenes in "Eclipse." But Rathbone was quick to clarify none of the vampires' combat scenes would be martial art-y.

Rathbone said Jasper will tell Bella his story after a training sequence where he helps the Cullens prepare for the newborn army that's approaching.

"It's actually the first time Bella and Jasper interact that's longer than one sentence, or me attacking her," Rathbone said, laughing. "Kristen and I kept saying it was really nice to get to work together because we had never had a chance to really, kind of, like, get into some dialogue."
